Q: How does the backup circuit work on your battery systems?

Every Redback battery system comes with an inbuilt UPS. At the time of install you and your installer can determine which key appliances you would need in an outage and connect those circuits to your Redback system. In the event of a grid outage, your connected circuits will be powered by your solar panels or your batteries until the grid returns or there is no more solar or battery power available. Q: Can I get solar now and add a battery later on?

If you want solar power now but you are not ready for battery storage, you can purchase a solar inverter now and add a battery system at a later date. There are both advantages and disadvantages to this. To find out more check out our blog .

Q: How does a Hybrid System work?

A Hybrid System combines solar and battery storage in an all-in-one system. It works by capturing the power from your solar panels and using that energy to power your home. Any excess power generated that is not needed for your home gets stored in your batteries for later use. Once your batteries are fully charged, any further excess power generated by your panels is sold back to the grid for a credit on your electricity bill. The power stored in your batteries can also be used to power your key appliances in the event of a grid outage.

Q: How does the Smart Battery System work?

Solar panels generate the most power in the middle of the day between 9am and 5pm. However, the average Australian consumes the most energy in the early mornings when getting ready for work, and in the evenings when returning home. Home battery storage works by storing your excess solar for your use when the sun isn't shining, ensuring you aren’t wasting those much-needed sun rays generated during the day. The addition of battery storage allows you to use more of your own self-generated energy and reduce your need to purchase energy in peak periods, saving you money on your power bill, and reducing your carbon footprint.
